VSCODE has a search and replace function that allows the use of REGEX. I am still trying to learn it. How do I find something using regex and insert something new. Not replace it?

For our example here, say you have a file full of entries that have one or two instances per line where you need to find a letter or number followed by a comma without a closing single quote? example: ('neal.fun/asteroid-launcher, 'website', 'neal.fun/asteroid-launcher'), You can use ([a-zA-Z0-9]), in the search field. Make sure you click the .* in the find field, to activate regex. Then in the replace field, use $1', The parentheses make the difference here, and represent a capturing group to be remembered for later.

Followed by registration and the ability for registered users of different permission levels to enter questions, enter answers, vote and comment. How is this site different from say StackExchange or Quora?

One of the major differences is that answers can expire. And soon, when an answer expires, it will no longer show on the page. Admins will be able to review expired answers. Determine if they are still a good answer, or if they need to be updated. If marked unanswered, the question will go back up for answering. Persons answering the question will be able to see the previous answer and it's popularity for clues into how to answer the question.

SVG are complicated and difficult to understand?

SVGs can be complex and difficult to understand, yes. But, they can be simple and great to work with. SVGs generated or modified by programs like InkScape can be bloated and impossible to understand. You can simplify the code online for your svg. But, it is best to learn SVG from a code point at sites like, https://www.w3schools.com/graphics/svg_intro.asp. and even https://www.css-tricks.com.

Why is rapeseed called RAPE seed?

Rapeseed is a plant species that is grown for its oil-rich seeds. The plant is also known as Brassica napus. It is a member of the Brassicaceae family. Which also includes other crops such as broccoli, cauliflower, and mustard.

The name "rape" is derived from the Latin word "rapum," which means turnip. The name was originally applied to the turnip-like root of the plant. But it was later extended to the entire plant and its seeds. Over time, the spelling of the name changed to "rapeseed."

The use of the word "rape" in the name of the plant has led to confusion and controversy. As the word is now commonly associated with the crime of rape. In many countries, the name of the plant has been changed to "canola" in order to avoid this association.

Steamed or grill fish is delicious over rice, but, even better with this sauce.

This is a recipe that I am currently developing. It is based on a sauce I first got from another recipe. It was for a sauce for Chickpea and Zucchini Tangine from HelloFresh.

Combine about a quarter oz. of chopped cilantro, 2 TBSP olive oil (3 TBSP for 4 servings), a pinch of garlic, salt, and pepper. Add lemon juice to taste and as much jalapeño as you like.

From there, I have experimented with adding "sumac" and Greek Yogurt. I like to use an immersion blender to mix it up. I have also experimented with all the quantities.

All of these get drizzled over the steamed fish and white rice for a "healthy" meal.

I also recommend using Cabot Creamery Greek Yogurt. This is not a sponsored message! I really tried several brands for myself last year, and Cabot is the best.

With all the scams going on with privacy, is there a good privacy based browser?

I highly recommend, the Brave browser, and Brave Search. The browser helps keep your privacy in check, while still supporting a reasonable amount of ads. Don't forget, a lot of malicious code comes through ad networks now. So, with the Brave browser, you keep your privacy, without selling your soul to Google. And you get a great, quick browser. https://brave.com.

Even without the browser, the Brave Search Engine is better. The results are great. If you do not see an answer you like, they even provide links to the same search in alternatives, Google, Bing, Mojeek.

PHP number to spelled out string example

$count = new NumberFormatter("en", NumberFormatter::SPELLOUT);
$count = ucfirst($count->format(count($posts)));

The first line sets the options up for the function. The second line, takes the count from the variable and passes it thru the function.

The ucfirst() is another function to capitalize the first letter of the string.

I learn something new everyday, building this project.

What is PWA, in reference to a webpage?

PWA stands for Progressive Web App. It is a web application that uses modern web technologies and design patterns. It helps to provide a user experience similar to that of a native mobile app. PWAs can be accessed through a web browser and can be "installed" on a user's device. This allows them to launch the app without an internet connection and receive push notifications. In search of something to post, here is one of those math riddles.

I borrowed $50 each from my Mom and my Dad. I used the $100 to buy a $97 shirt. That left me with $3 dollars in change.

$100-$97=$3

I kept one dollar for myself and gave a dollar each to my Mom and my Dad.

$50-$1=$49 still owed to each parent

$49 + $49 + my $1 = $99. Where'd the other $1 go?

Why do you think we should switch to a 13 month calendar?

The reasons to switch to a 13 month calendar are practically endless. Our calendar is a broken antique. The 13 month calendar would be setup so ever month had 28 days. Every 1st day of every month would be a Sunday. Every quarter would be exactly 13 weeks. Between last year and next year, would be "Year Day". So, Saturday, December 28th, 2023 would be followed by Year Day 2024, which would be followed by Sunday, January 1st, 2024. The 13th month would be "Sol", placed between June and July. Every holiday would occur at a predictable rate and date. It's time for us to throw away our ancient calendar for one that makes sense. You can see a 13 month calendar at https://13monthcalendar.com.

I always have to look this up. But when you are preparing a cat5 jack (rj45). It is important you wire them all the same, except in one case which you won't likely encounter. But, holding the rj45 plug so the copper is facing up and away from you. The wires should go: orange/white, orange, green/white, blue, blue/white, green, brown/white, brown.

What happened to the 13th post?

I personally think 13 is not an unlucky number. I was born on Friday the 13th. But, I recall visiting my grandma as a kid, and the building she lived in did not have a 13th floor. Or at least the 13th floor was called the 14th floor, because of superstition.

So, I skipped 13 as an easter egg to superstitious or freety people. lol. And now you know "freety" is another word for superstitious. BONUS!!!

More info about why 13 is perceived as unlucky is located here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triskaidekaphobia.

What do you mean "Support Small Time Creators"?

I am a small-time creator. So the philosophy is self-serving, I admit. But, I practice what I preach. When I find a small-time creator on YouTube, for instance, I subscribe. I like and comment on their videos. A comment on a new creator's video means a million times more to them. Much more than a comment on a accomplished creator's video. It can be something simple like, "Thanks for the video. It was a big help." The same is true for authors, web developers, and music writers. When they are starting, it means so much to help them out. And when the algorithms see your like, comment, etc, it shows the content to more users. That is why it matters. So, tell others about that new amateur website, or gardening video, whatever it is. Just help someone beat the odds.

Where is a good YouTube channel for regular updates on Astronomy news described plainly enough for amateurs?

I am a big fan of Dr. Becky on YouTube. From her YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@DrBecky. her description is as follows: I'm Dr. Becky Smethurst, an astrophysicist at the University of Oxford (Christ Church). I love making videos about science with an unnatural level of enthusiasm. I like to focus on how we know things, not just what we know. And especially, the things we still don't know. If you've ever wondered about something in space and couldn't find an answer online - you can ask me! My day job is to do research into how supermassive black holes can affect the galaxies that they live in. In particular, I look at whether the energy output from the disk of material orbiting around a growing supermassive black hole can stop a galaxy from forming stars.

Why aren't you using fancy google fonts or other free features to make this site more fancy?

Using services like google fonts, or other free services exposes your website visitors to spying. None of those services are actually free. Using Google Fonts as an example, means Google can collect information on every visitor to your site. If your user is savvy enough to have those things blocked in their browser, their privacy can be compromised. Google is not the only entity doing this evil. Shared off-site graphics. Off-site fonts. Off-site icons, etc, all put your visitors privacy at risk. Protect, your visitors and stay away from off-site "freebies" when you can.
